The rise in power of a fascist and racist party puts France at a time of danger.

They advance because we retreat

It is necessary, to begin with, to have a simple courage to give things and people their true names. Whichever could be legal consequences, we maintain here that Le Pen, in direct filiation with the nazi ideology, is a fascist and a racist.

At the cause, deterioration of political morals, occasions of impudent profiteering, prostitution of justice by politics, ideological distress, deployment of a society without emotions, pitiless to the weak, dissolution of popular solidarities which existed before, open the way to the poujadiste reflexes and to the vote of desperation.

To top it off, the leaders of the FN apply with a cynical tenacity their strategy of conquest of power. By gradual advances, their succeed in making commonplace the unthinkable. Who could have thought only ten years ago, that a French party would display an ancient Waffen SS member, on its podiums, as a privileged ally? Who could have predicted that the anti-semitic rubbish would begin again to come every week out of the mouth of leaders of the FN and its allies? Who could have imagined that, an indecent provocation to murder, repetitive assassination of young immigrants would be qualified by Le Pen ' as simple "incidents" ?

Ten years ago, immigrants' right to vote on local elections was inscribed on the program of the candidate of the left for presidential elections. In 1988, under racist pressure, it was taken out of this program.

If we might be beaten, it would be because we had no courage to fight.

The fight agains racism will not be won by searching some obscure agreement with the already deeply contaminated right parties. It can happen only by affirmation without compromise of our own values. It will be achieved by the mobilisation of those who, despite differences and disagreements, are resolved to stop FN at any price, by all means, at all levels, and in a permanent way. Fight must be fought in courts, in mass media and on the streets.

Facing FN, it is necessary to set up a front of resistance, which will land a fatal blow to its undertakings and will impose the adoption of proper social and political measures to halt the development of racism. We call out to parties and to progressive organizations so that they create, in the shortest possible time, the practical conditions of a unified riposte. A first objective should be the preparation of a massive national demonstration gathering all those who are resolved to block the way to fascist racism. There is no more time for saddened acknowledgements and deliberations.

The time of counteroffensive has come !
