The charter of Ras l'front network

The rise in power of the far-right, the resurgence of the fascist ideology and its deep installation in the French society put us in a time of danger.

At the roots:

  • the unemployment and poverty which tear the social cloth of our society and impose a painful present and uncertain future on millions of citizens ;
  • the installation of a society which generates exclusions putting into question the values of the Republic ;
  • the loss of trust in the democratic functioning of institutions

First of all, it is on those grounds that a fascist party, the Front National, has developed.

For many years, the leaders of the Front National are promoting the theme of "the French identity", founded on "origins" and the right of blood, by leaning on crude reflexes of intolerance and fear of foreigners. They spread their discourse of hatred and violence and don't hesitate to use agression and intimidation. They stir up racism, anti-Semitism and support the propositions of negationism.

In their strategy of conquest of power, the Front National developed a nationalistic political program founded on the discriminating principle of the "national priority", including "family priority". This program designates foreigners as scapegoats and advocates the return to a profoundly sexist and homophobe moral order. While holding demagogic speeches on economic and social policies, the Front National intends to destroy political and social achievements of our society and to impose on us a profoundly anti-democratic order.

Leaning on its successes, the Front National disseminates again the traditional talking points of the far-right.

By gradual advances, the Front National trivilizes the unthinkable.

By gradual concessions, a part of the political class has taken the ideas of the Front National in unsuccessful attempts to recover its electorate. On the contrary, that only contributed to theisame kind of trivilisation.

They advance because we retreat

The fight against fascism will not be won by adopting for elections the topics of the Front National, and by implementing the laws which draw inspiration from its ideology.

The fight against fascism will be won by the affirmation of values of solidarity, freedom, democracy and respect of others, by the affirmation of fundamental rights of each one and of citizenship founded on the virtue of birth in the country. These universal values must be defended everywhere where theiy are threatened. We, therefore, have a duty of solidarity, also, towards all the people who are victims of denial of those fundamental values.

The fight against fascism will be won by the mobilisation of citizens, of those who, outside of their differences of political, philosophical and religious opinions, are committed to a constant battle on all grounds: on the streets, in the bussinesses and organisations, in the schools, before the courts and in the medias.

The fight against fascism demands the understanding of various reasons and forms of their rise to power to be able to carry precise and persuasive argumentation.

Facing fascism, it is necessary to set up a network of resistance uniting citizens, associations, parties and labour unions which will land a fatal blow to its undertakings and will provide an adoption of proper political and social measures to halt its development.

They will retreat because we advance on together

In 1990, 250 personalities, acknowledging the rise in power of the Front National, made an appeal to go to counteroffensive. That appeal gave birth to Ras l'front, the Network of struggle against fascism.

Ras l'front is there to create and to stimulate a movement of resistance and vigilance against fascism. Its network intends to mobilize citizens, associations, labour unions and political parties to fight without exceptions nor concessions the Front National and its allies.

Ras l'front is a network pluralist by multiplicity of its active members, with the unifing preoccupation, independent politically and financially.

Ras l'front, organized in a network of autonomous collectives, intervenes in all the fileds where the Front National and its ideas gain ground, city by city, inch by inch, day after day.

Ras l'front intervenes in the political domain. Even if it's not its preoccupation to propose a political program, it participates in the reflexion and sensibili! sation of all on the theme of fascism and on the forms of struggle that can and should be taken to combat it.

Ras l'front: Network of struggle against fascism

All the collectives participate in the network Ras l'front.

  • The collectives of Ras l'front

    The collectives of network are citizens' associations which want to fight against fascism. They work "in the field" and engage in analyses, favoring collective action and united campaigns, in view of the local situations. They function independantly politically and financially.

    They are organized in associations in accordance to the law 1901, preferably under the name of Ras l'front, and uphold the present charter.

  • The network Ras l'front

    The Network of struggle against Fascism federates the activity of collectives, organizes the circulation of information and launches the campaigns in respect of self-governance and decisions of every collective. It helps in creation and in development of collectives and puts at their disposal all the tools that it considers necessary for antifascist struggle (newspaper, equipment, material, logistical means, contacts with personnalities, thematic working groups...).

    It organizes the circulation of information and the launch of campaigns in respect of the autonomy of collectives.

    Network exists only by the participation of all the collectives in its work, not only by their presence in the National Council, but also by their initiatives and the analyses that they share.

    The collectifs of the Network from the same region establish links between themselves and support each other.

    The Network also unites the working groups, groups of reflexion and of action in the specified fields of activity.

    The Network is financed by the collectives.

  • Ethics of Ras l'front

    The activists of Ras l'front are joined by their willingness to fight fascism.

    They engage, individually and collectively, to guarantee the political and financial independence of the movement and not use the Network and and the name of Ras l'front for purposes other than the antifascist struggle.

    They promise to respect rules assuring a good functioning of the Network and their collective.
